Bishop Michael Ball (Patron) It is a pleasure to commend CFPSS to anybody and everybody. Part of living fully, is the desire to explore the borderline between the ‘now’ and the ‘other’. The ‘other’ that continually breaks through into the ‘now’. CFPSS has for many years bravely and sensitively studied that reversible breakthrough which many of us would also say is wonderfully realised in the Communion of Saints. I may not always completely agree with the articles in the magazines, but I am always stimulated by them and they give a greater realisation of that interplay between those two worlds whose realities are different but equally definite. CFPSS will give you food for thought for the here and the hereafter and do it in an exciting way.

Susan Howatch (Patron) I came across the CFPSS when I was exploring the interface of paranormal phenomena and Christianity for a strand of my Starbridge novels and I was immediately impressed by the Fellowship’s emphasis on reason, scholarship and the importance of ongoing scientific research in this field. Viewing the paranormal through this scrupulously honest Christian lens not only illuminated certain realms of religious experience for me but confirmed my belief that science and religion are different aspects of a multisided truth. CFPSS is not for the nutty fringe; it is for the truth-seekers who possess open minds and intellectual integrity.

The CFPSS - A Member's View Like many people I’d always been aware that there was more to this life than we could see or touch. I also assumed that anyone who had experiences like mine would be happy to discuss them, but I found that apart from one or two wise older ladies who were glad of the chance to speak, the response was generally fairly hostile! In church I learned quickly that to speak of such things was a sure way of inviting correction. Faced with such opposition, I did what many must do, and decided to keep quiet on the subject. But then I found the Churches Fellowship which was, possibly quite literally, my saving grace after the sudden death of my son Matthew. For the annual conferences and regional meetings are ideal for exploring up-to-date scientific research into paranormal communication, providing a setting for people from a variety of backgrounds to discuss a range of experiences of mutual interest within a Christian context. The Fellowship’s Quarterly Review offers thought-provoking articles and correspondence from members, whilst the Christian Parapsychologist (also quarterly), contains a varied and stimulating range of articles, reports and book reviews. The library of literature and tapes is an invaluable aid to further study.

Comment from an Ordinand after attending his first CFPSS conference I arrived at my first annual conference with a pretty open mind and forty-eight hours later so much had been offered as to nourish me for years to come. I found the talks utterly compelling and enlightening. Even though the realm of the paranormal is foreign to me, I felt included because the speakers related their philosophy/theology to their personal experiences. This union of head and heart meant that there was an honesty and a sensitivity, so that subjects a little off the mainstream, such as visions and visitations from the dead, were wholly accessible to the novice. This breadth of vision and intellectual and spiritual bravery evidently came from the good people of the Fellowship. Perhaps because so many members had had some defining moment(s) in their lives where God revealed Himself and His ways, there was a general openness to people and situations. In observing others it was clear that an understanding and intimacy exitst between members, which must be so helpful for everyone to take back to their daily lives. Equally I was made to feel apart of this fraternity, so am very grateful for the welcome and hospitality I received. Again this openness of members seemed to spring from faith and worship. The Fellowship is involved in important work because there still seems to be a gap between Christianity and the modern mind, which is an exciting prospect. I will recommend the CFPSS to others in the future. Not everyone is comfortable with the concept of Church as it is perceived today, but there are times, whilst we are ‘still looking’, when the Fellowship can be a place of refuge and maybe, even, of glorious rediscovery.
